  4. PETER is dressing smartly.


  5. PETER (V.O): This morning, I'm attending HKUST's Industry Engagement Day+.


  6. Pausing.


  7. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I took part in its Industry Engagement Day last year.


  8. Pausing.


  9. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): As Chairman of HKUST's Knowledge Transfer Committee, I support events hosted by the Office of Knowledge Transfer.


  10. Pausing.


  11. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): This year's focus is on Transformation and Edge AI.


  12. Pausing.


  13. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): As I wasn't trained in science and technology, I'm more anxious to learn.

  15. EXT/INT. INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED STUDY, HKUST - 09:50


  16. Approaching, Peter sees JOE coming out to greet him.


  17. PETER: Hi Joe!


  18. JOE: Thank you for coming!


  19. Joe leads Peter to the venue. Peter sees his designated seat in the middle of the front row.


  20. PETER (V.O.): When I attend an event, I mean to show support and learn. I won't leave until the end.


  21. Later, Peter chats with SPEAKER#1 sitting on his right.


  22. PETER: You're from Intel, right?


  23. SPEAKER#1: Yes.


  24. PETER: I only know about the story of Intel's smart sound mark - dung-dung-dun-dun - as the Intel chip can't be seen from the outside.


  25. Later, as Speaker#1, speaks about text to image on stage, a VP sitting on Peter's left whispers to him.


  26. VP: You're very good at that.


  27. Peter nods.


  28. PETER (V.O): I've been using AI drawings as inserts in my communications since Spring 2023.


  29. Pausing.


  30. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): AI amplifies my creativity and ingenuity tirelessly.


  31. Speaker#1 concludes by disclosing Intel's AI personal computer.


  32. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I think I'd buy one when such AI pcs are available in Hong Kong.


  33. Later, SPEAKER#2 speaks about smart sensors in the Edge AI era.


  34. PETER (V.O): "Edge" is actually technical.


  35. Peter types on an AI bot with his mobile.


  36. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Edge AI refers to the deployment of AI models and processing directly on edge devices such as smartphones instead of relying on a centralized cloud infrastructure.


  37. SPEAKER#3 then speaks about Deep Tech and licensed self-driving bus in Hong Kong.


  38. PETER (V.O): Wow, that's exciting.


  39. Recalling.


  40. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): On my way here, I've learned from the news about an accident in the Mainland involving a self-driving taxi.

  42. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): A human-driver didn't obey the red traffic signal and bumped into the self-driving taxi...


  43. Later, SPEAKER#4 speaks about sustainable digital transformation with edge AI. Peter types on an AI bot on his mobile.


  44. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Transformation in AI refers to the process of modifying data to make it more suitable to use in AI applications.

  46. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I'm a shareholder of his employer company. Just hope that it can capitalize on their new products before long!


  47. EXT. SILVERSTRAND BAY - 14:00


  48. Car park. A wet-haired Peter checks his mobile and sees a message + an image of him with other VIPs in a photo session of the Industry Engagement Day+.


  49. PETER (V.O): Oh, it's from Edward. I know where he was sitting now. He left HKUST years ago, but I'm still volunteering.


  50. Peter then sees another mail from the HKUST Council secretariat calling for a special meeting.


  51. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): No, I can't make it as I should be flying to Paris then.


  52. Act 3


  53. INT. BEDROOM - 22:00


  54. Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled "The "+" Factor" to a draft.


  55. PETER (V.O): In attending HKUST's Industry Engagement Day+, I stay up-to-date on the latest science and technology trends.

  57. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I've gained a better understanding of AI and its applications.

  59. PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I can make better-informed decisions to support HKUST's knowledge transfer initiatives.
