Act 2
Reception. DOMINIC stares at Peter.
DOMINIC: Do you remember me? I followed the activities of the HK Philosophy Society...
PETER: I was the Society's Secretary.
DOMINIC: Members then liked to discuss Popper.
PETER: He was still alive then.
Lounge area. SIMPSON and WINNIE greet Peter and introduce patent EXAMINERS to him.
SIMPSON: Peter used to share knowledge with us at PMDM...
PETER (V.O.): Oh yes, the "Performance Management & Development Meeting". I got the idea from Harvard Kennedy School and made it happen in the office.
PETER: I also ran an "ILA" (Inspire, Liberate & Achieve) - it's a standing meeting held on the first Monday morning of every month - to prevent Monday Syndrome.
WINNIE: Peter used to share his family stories to colleagues around Christmas. I miss them!
Peter is then introduced to PEGGY.
PEGGY: Oh, you're Peter! I read a lot of your stuff in the policy Bureau. Your concept of IP trading was so visionary.
PETER: It has been my dream. I still want to make it come true. I'm now the Chair of HKUST's Knowledge Transfer Committee.
We see GRACE waving at Peter excitedly.
GRACE: We must have photos taken together.
Peter does their selfies and sends them via WhatsApp right away. Then, AMBROSE shakes hands with Peter.
AMBROSE: Would you be travelling again?
PETER: Yes, I'll travel to Sydney next week to attend my younger son's graduation ceremony...
On stage, DAVID finishes his opening remarks. The FINANCIAL SECRETARY (FS) speaks:...Hong Kong...an international IP trading hub...
PETER (V.O.): While I was in Japan, Ambrose sought my advice as to how to develop Hong Kong's legal services in light of Hong Kong's innovative developments.
After FS' speech, Peter and Ambrose discuss, and soon DEREK appears.
DEREK: Do you use AI to edit your songs?
PETER: No, I've been using AI to generate drawings.
Peter shows Derek his screenplays with AI inserts. Then, WINSTON appears to chat with Peter.
PETER: You're interested in cryptocurrency. I believe crypto backed up by IP should be more valuable.
WINSTON: Let me fix a lunch to discuss further...
CK then appears and shares with Peter about mortgage of trademarks and other things. Afterwards, DAN introduces DORA to Peter.
DORA: I'm doing Copyright...
PETER: Ah, I must share with you how I dealt with authorship/ownership of AI works when I designed Hong Kong's Copyright Law in the early 1990s...
HELEN then engages Peter. They talk about learning Korean and Peter shows her a Korean Alphabet song on his mobile.
PETER: Learning Korean is my new endeavour. The teacher requires the class to recite the alphabets to her one by one before going home!
DESMOND then comes forward to see Peter before leaving.
DESMOND: Do you remember me? The one who caused you lots of trouble?
Peter looks lost.
PETER (V.O.): I also met briefly with Stephen, Ada, David, Thomas, Joyce, Sandra, Finnie, Brenda, Paula, Doug, Ella, Sandy, Annie...and others - I couldn't recall the names!
