Act 1
INT. SITTING ROOM - 14:00
PETER, his WIFE and KAJI, the family pet are about to leave.
PETER: Should we have something first?
WIFE: Are you hungry now? We've had a late breakfast.
PETER: We're taking Kaji to her Vet...You mentioned there's a shop nearby selling delicious beef items...
WIFE: Yes, let's buy some beef cakes as our afternoon delights.
PETER (V.O.): Beef cakes? I've beef buns in mind.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I was with the Government, I didn't have the time to think about food.
They exit.
Act 2
INT. KOWLOON CITY - 16:00
Shop front. Peter's wife gets off the car to place an order. Peter and Kaji stay put.
PETER (V.O.): Wow, I can see many customers waiting for takeaways. The shop's beef stuff can't be bad.
Later, Peter's wife returns and opens a disposable food box. We see two fried cakes inside.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, they look very different from the one I had when I was young.
PETER: How much is that per piece?
WIFE: $24.
FLASHBACK
EXT. HUNG SHUI KIU - 08:00 (1964)
Cook food stall. Having got 20 cents from Peter (10), the shopkeeper picks up one oily round-shaped bun from a big pan, puts it on a sheet of paper and passes it to Peter.
PETER (V.O.): Wow, it's very hot.
Peter eats it right away.
PETER (V.O.): Wow, it's so juicy. On a chilly morning, it's particularly warm and tasty.
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.): It was quite a treat then. Two loaves of bread with no fillings costed 15 cents only.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): At home, we seldom had beef. Making beef good wasn't easy.
Unmasking themselves, Peter and his wife use chopsticks.
PETER: We must eat them while they're hot from the pan. Having food inside a private car isn't against the pandemic regulations.
They begin to eat.
PETER: Delicious! We don't need a silver fork to eat good food.
Soon, they finish the beef cakes.
PETER: Should we have another round?
WIFE: Sure, let our pet get her vaccination at her Vet first.
They leave. Peter observes the shop's signboard.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, the brand was first established in 1950.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I was only born 4 years later.
FLASHBACK
INT. HOLLYWOOD ROAD - 13:30 (1960)
A bakery. Peter (6) in school uniform, watches his Dad (27) buying a loaf of bread.
PETER (V.O.): It looks a little different from other bread.
DAD: You must be hungry. Eat it.
As he eats the bread, Peter looks surprised.
PETER: Oh, there's filling inside...
DAD: It's beef.
END FLASHBACK
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's the first time I had a beef bun.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I didn't know the value of the moment until it became a memory.
Act 3
INT. SITTING ROOM - 23:00
Peter and his wife are watching TV.
PETER (V.O.): Food is a necessity. Good food is often simple.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O)(Cont'd): More importantly, good food leads to good mood.
Peter touches his hair.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): It's OK for me to be a little obsessed with food now.
