Holding a Gibson G-writer acoustic guitar, PETER is playing fingering. We hear the Intro in Am, Em, Am, Em...
KAJI (V.O.): Yesterday evening, I played my song "Lantern Festival" again.
Playing the verses in C, Am, Em, G7; Am, Em, Dm, G7...
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I love both the music and the lyrics. They reflected my mood when I wrote the song years ago.
Playing the pre-chorus in C, Am, F, G7; C, Am, F, G7...
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): A lady friend loved it. But a music friend thought it was "too minor".
Playing the chorus in F, G7, Am, C; F, G7, Am C...
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Re-listening to the older version of the song, I found it really sad.
Playing the outro: Am, Em. Am. Em...
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And so I had the urge to make a "less minor" version of it.
Act 2
FLASHBACK
INT. STUDIO - YESTERDAY NIGHT
Grabbing his Gibson G-writer, Peter tunes it with a phone App "GuitarTuna"
PETER (V.O.): I haven't played my song "Lantern Festival" for years. Let me find the chords.
Peter plays the Intro.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me find the chords for the verses.
Trying a few chords, Peter finds the right ones.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For my festive songs, I wrote them days before the festivals.
Once they're done, I'd record the audio, insert the video and add the subtitles to produce the MV.
PETER continues to find the chords for the pre-chorus and chorus.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This is my only song I've used the C cycle chords as the pre-chorus.
Practising.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The chorus also sounds special.
Finishing the Outro, Peter taps the iMovie App in an iPad Mini. He then connects the cables of a foot-controlled drum machine.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me record a less down-beat version of the song.
Having tapped "Recording", we hear guitar sounds, drum beats and Peter's singing from Intro to Outro.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The 1st take isn't bad. But I think I can do better.
Peter does a retake and then a few other retakes.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I won't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
MONTAGE OF PETER'S PRODUCTION OF A MV
A. Having accepted the last take, Peter selects and inserts some video clips.
B. Peter then edits the video clips and then adds the subtitles.
C. Having saved the MV, Peter publishes it on YouTube.
END MONTAGE
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm sending the YouTube link of this 2023 version of my song "Lantern Festival" to those who have sent me "Lantern Festival" greetings.
Soon, Peter sees a message on phone: I can't open it. Peter responds with the saved video clip.
INT. BATHROOM - LATER
Peter is having a shower. We hear him singing his song "Lantern Festival".
PETER (V.O.): I've never performed this song live. It's only good for one day in a year!
Finishing bathing. Peter grabs his phone and sees a message: ...雲淡風輕...
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): "Lightsome clouds and breezes"? What a poetic metaphor of my song!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've known struggles, setbacks, and loss.
The singer sings his song again.
RETURN TO PRESENT
Act 3
INT. STUDIO - CONTINUOUS
Peter plays fingering of his song "Lantern Festival" again.
PETER (V.O.): I've found my way out of those hardships. The 2023 version reflects my current mood.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Being courageous, loving and compassionate, I feel calm and breezy in my mind.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Behind every smile, there's a story of a personal struggle. And I also love to tell stories in my songs.
Peter smiles.
