PETER goes to bed.
PETER (V.O.): I'm not sleepy though.
It's 03:00. Grabbing an eye mask, Peter puts it on.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My eyelids aren't heavy; my thoughts are.
It's 04:00. Peter is tossing and turning.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I worry about my Korean friends who've just got COVID-19. And there's nothing I can help.
It's 05:00. Peter goes to the toilet.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): "Hello darkness my old friend, I've come to talk to you again."
It's 07:30. Peter gets out of bed alertly.
Act 2
INT. DINING ROOM - 08:15
Having breakfast with KAJI, the family pet, Peter drinks tea.
PETER (V.O.): It's a recent change. I used to worry that tea might disturb my sleep.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I was with Government, I had chronic difficulty in falling asleep or staying asleep.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I consulted my doctor and had Melatonin. But there was no effect.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I even tried to learn self-hypnosis to change my thinking and to take control of myself.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Sleepless, I had to struggle with bad mood and low concentration, wasting my time capital.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yesterday, I had a cup of ice coffee after 3.pm.
Surfing the web with his smart phone, Peter studies texts on health.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Even 200 mg of brewed coffee 16 hours before bed may impact on sleep!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As I swam long distance yesterday and felt fatigue, why couldn't I fall asleep?
Reading.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Fatigue isn't sleepy. Sleepy is when I can't barely keep myself awake.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My racing mind caused my sleeplessness last night.
INT. KITCHEN - 12:30
Peter is having lunch.
PETER (V.O.): Unless I could have a good nap after this, I won't drive to the beach as planned.
INT. STUDY - 13:30
Peter is watching a TV documentary about the Shinkansen alertly.
PETER (V.O.): Earlier, Google Photos remind me that, on May 6, 2012, I was flying to Japan.

Peter checks an image of him published 10 years ago.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In flight, I read a newspaper story featuring my work.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I gave the media interview days ago and had no idea how it would be spun.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And before lunch today, my elder daughter related a Japanese story that the authority would consider by end May how to relax tourist visits to Japan.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): A moment ago, I've checked my bank account and realize that I invested heavily in the Japanese Yen before its current depreciation.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): All these make me alert rather than sleepy now.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Last night, I had endless random thoughts throughout.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.): Thinking about not thinking is big challenge to me.
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - 22:00
Going to bed, Peter puts on an eye mask.
PETER (V.O.): "Because a vision softly creeping, Left its seeds while I was sleeping. And the vision that was planted in my brain, Still remains, within the sound of silence."
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've discovered that the lyrics were written on the date when my wife was born.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Now, I'm going to hypnotize myself and to switch off my brain.
