Act 1
EXT. STREETS - 07:50
Walking towards a bus stop, PETER sees a public light bus leaving.
PETER (V.O.): If it left at 07:50 sharp from the terminal, I should be able to get on board at it's first stop.
Peter walks towards the a bus terminal.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): At the terminal, I can secure a seat.
Inside a public light bus at the terminal, Peter stares at a digital clock that is close to the DRIVER.
PETER (V.O.): I believe that the driver will set off before 08:00
At 07:59, the driver drives away, as a WOMAN walking towards it looks perplexed.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The truth is that the driver can't wait.
As the public light bus stops at a traffic light, the woman knocks on the door and it opens.
DRIVER: Get on quick!
Act 2
INT. COURT - 11:00
A WITNESS is being cross-examined. We hear: Traffic accidents are small matters to us. Our public light buses are insured.
PETER (V.O.): Ah, my witness speaks his mind.
The JUDGE takes a look at Peter.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In re-examination, I'll make him say he did drive with due care and attention.
INT. CHA CHAAN TENG - 13:15
Seated in a 4-person table, Peter is having screen time.
PETER (V.O.): Oh a pharmaceutical stock I recently invested has lost over 22% of its value in one day.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Can its business model suddenly gone wrong?
Surfing the web, Peter reads an article.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh it's business prospect in US has become uncertain, an aspect of investment truth.
Two MEN then share Peter's table.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's lunch time.
As Peter is having his fried noodles, he overhears the men talking.
MAN#1: Oh, my god!
MAN#2: What's the matter?
MAN#1: I'm recommended to do a COVID-19 testing as I've frequented a certain premises.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Is that right?
MAN#1: At the critical time, I wasn't there, but I didn't tap the Leave icon of the tracing App in time.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I hope he's telling the truth.
INT. COURT - 16:30
Packing the files and papers, Peter and his ASSISTANT leave.
PETER (V.O.): The defendant was smart in opting not to give evidence.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I didn't have the opportunity to do my cross-examination to reveal more the probable truth.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've no problem with the presumption of innocence though.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I had another case which was adjourned just because a witness's probable encounter with a COVID-19 carrier.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For public health matters, the presumption is very different.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The truth is: a public health mistake made can be very punishing to all.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And life doesn't always give us second chances.
Act 3
EXT. STREETS - 18:30
Walking past an installation art, Peter captures an image featuring the numeral 2.
PETER (V.O.): In one stance today, I still wrote 2021.
Pausing.
.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When 2022 began, I predicted that people would continue to write 2021 for sometime.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't know if people like living a lie; but I'm experiencing the truth.
