PETER (V.O.): What does the expression "three score and ten" mean?
Peter surfs the web with his smart phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): "Three score" used to mean 60, just like "a dozen" for 12.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): "Three score and ten" is 70 years - the nominal life span when the expression was popular.
Peter types his answer on screen.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've lived three score and eight already.
Getting his swimming gear bag, Peter exits.
Act 2
EXT. GOLDEN BEACH - 13:00
Towing a cyber-green buoy, Peter is swimming along the outer limit of the swimming area.
PETER (V.O.) : Without the buoy, I might hesitate to swim so far out.
Peter sees a lifeguard kayaking nearby.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): He's to save me if I get into any trouble.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In the 1960s, I just played in shallow water and dug clams in nearby beaches.
Swimming.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm swimming against the waves. The corner at the other end is still not in sight.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yesterday, while I was watching YouTube, I happened to see a tribute to Seekers' Judith Durham. I didn't know she died on Aug 5 at the age of 79.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I wasn't a fan of Olivier Newton-John. But I was attracted by the distinctive voice of Judith Durham.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I was in my first score, I loved the Seekers' "Georgy Girl" the most.
Peter reaches the other corner.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): When I was in my second score, I loved the Seekers' "I Will Never Find Another You".
Peter begins to swim free style.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And I only began composing songs towards the end of my third score.
Peter returns to the beach.
INT. PETER'S NT HOME - 16:00
Terrace. Peter removes the broken concrete along the drainage edge.
PETER (V.O.): They're over 20 years old.
Peter puts some white concrete on the areas.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've just bought some water-proof concrete from a mall store.
Using a wet cloth to drop water onto the concrete, Peter uses a trowel to mix them into plaster.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This is something I can do before the next rainstorm.
Later. G/F. Peter is dumping papers into a large plastic bag.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've formally retired for over eight years, and I still have lots of possessions.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): All along, I wasn't sure about decluttering, and if so, my pace.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): For every item I declutter, I might throw away the trigger of a forgotten story.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Only the thought of leaving fewer troubles to my family motivates me to stop hoarding.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Noting the meaning of three score and ten now, I've about 21 months to get the job done.
Act 3
INT. STUDIO - 20:00
On YouTube, Peter is watching black-and-white video clips.
PETER (V.O.): These oldies made available were recorded during the first score of my life.
On screen, Cliff Richard is singing his 1958 rock-and-roll song "Move It".
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I love to watch them as they make me feel young.
On screen, the Beach Boys are singing their 1964 car song "Little Honda".
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Yes, I still have some energy and force.
On screen, the Animals are singing their 1964 blues-rock song "The House of the Rising Sun".
