Act 1
INT. BEDROOM - DAY
In bed. PETER opens his eyes and checks the time. It's 05:45.
PETER (V.O.): Am I still under stress?
Peter continues to stay in bed.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've only slept for 5 hours.
Peter tosses.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I didn't eat too much yesterday night. My sleep habits aren't bad either.
Peter turns.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): My schedule today is relaxing - a lunch appointment, an afternoon shopping and an evening concert.
At 08:45, Peter gets out of bed.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And I've remarried for 29 years.
Act 2
EXT. MALL - 09:15
Entering, Peter focuses on the mall logo.
PETER (V.O.): It's only now that I can see the logo is dotted with fine turtle devices.
INT. DINING ROOM - 09:30
Sharing a chair with KAJI, the family pet, they share a loaf of bread together.
PETER (V.O.): It's our morning delight.
INT. STUDY - 09:45
Looking out the window, Peter sees sunshine. A sailing boat wind chime gets his attention.
PETER (V.O.): My matriculation class club was called "Sailing".
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): 50 years ago today, I was still working as a part-time waiter in Castle Peak Hotel - a seaside resort.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Public holidays meant work days for me. I never missed any part-time working opportunity since Form 3.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I needed the money to support myself. I thought I had all the time in the world.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And then in the summer of 1974, two of my matriculation classmates "Wu Shu-fun" and "Chan King-chau" were struck dead by lightning at Lantau Peak.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): 20 years ago, an entrepreneurial classmate "Ah Chung", who didn't smoke, died of lung cancer.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): In 2014, a compassionate classmate "Ah Shea", who fixed my Kam Tin rental home's electricity in 1973, died of bone cancer.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And during the pandemic, another classmate "Debbie", who was a school principal, died of brain cancer.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've written a song called "Sailing" to document our mood when we're young and how we've grown up.
Sighing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): A smooth sea never made skilled sailors.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And time doesn't sail, it flies, whether one's treasuring it or wasting it.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And once time is lost, it can never be found again.
Act 3
INT. BEDROOM - LATER
At a corner, Peter is working on a laptop.
PETER (V.O.): My sleep or wakefulness may be due to physiological changes of aging.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd):I accept that. It's an alternative way that I can have more time.
Thinking.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): While insomnia may sap my energy level, I shouldn't allow it to sap my work, my mood and my quality of life.
DAYDREAM SEQUENCE
A. Restaurant. Peter and his WIFE are having a dim-sum lunch with RELATIVES.
B. Outlets. Peter and his wife are shopping.
. C. Hall. Peter and his wife are watching a concert.
