Act 1
INT. STUDIO - 10:00
Picking up a Fender 12-string acoustic guitar, PETER strums a few chords.
PETER (V.O.): The climax doesn't sound good enough.
Putting the guitar aside, Peter walks over to the Clavinova.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I'm determined to create the perfect tune.
Playing the keys of the Clavinova, Peter lets the tune build towards its climax.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): The tune now sounds timeless.
A smile spreads across Peter's face.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I must capture it before I forget.
Playing the guitar again and turning on the rhythm box, Peter begins to record his tune with a mobile.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I can only do a few takes at the most as I've an important lunch appointment.
Act 2
INT. TMK FUNK & ROLLS - 12:30
Peter and his friend DORA are having lunch at a cosy table.
PETER: I can't thank you enough for your support on this and that.
Dora smiles gracefully,
PETER (Cont'd): I've written a song for you but I don't sing well...
Peter taps the Voice Memos icon on his mobile and let Dora hear the song.
PETER (V.O.): The recording is raw.
We barely manage to hear Peter singing via the mobile speaker:.. She is Dora...She is Dora...
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): The simple and repetitive patterns should stick in the listener's mind. It's easy to sing along too.
DORA: You sound okay. Let me have a copy of it.
INT. STUDIO - 15:00
Peter is using an online tuner to tune his 12-string acoustic guitar.
PETER (V.O.): I need the perfect sound. This morning, I didn't have the time to tune it.
We see from the sound meter app on screen that some strings are out of tune.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Let me also tune my Ibanez 12-string acoustic guitar. I haven't touched it since my last live performance at HKUST.
Having tuned his guitars, Peter strums them and compares the sounds.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): While the sounds leap out to my ears, the shimmering character of the Japanese brand appeals to me more.
Peter then sets up a music stand, places his mobile there so that he can read the "song sheet" on screen at eye level.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I want to avoid mistakes during playing the guitar chords and singing the lyrics.
After stepping on the rhythm box pedal and strumming a few chords, Peter adjusts the rhythm box tempo and strums again.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Okay, they're in syn now.
Placing an iPad Mini near him, Peter touches the "record" icon of the iMovie app.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): As a one-man band with mobile recording devices, the recording session is the hardest, as the recording has to be perfect.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): For live performance, if I play one or two chords wrongly, few would notice or care.
Having touched the "recording" icon, Peter plays a few guitar chords, stops and touches the "retake" icon.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I haven't stepped on the pedal of the rhythm box timely.
Peter has just recorded the ninth take of his new song. Having listened to it, Peter looks pleased.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): This is the best take. Now I need to do the visuals.
Peter prompts an AI drawing bot to generate animated drawings.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): During lunch today, I shared with Dora how I co-produced with my US counterparts a 30-second clip that had lots of visual effects.
Selecting and inserting the AI drawings into his draft MV on screen.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I've been using AI animations flexibly and timelessly for visual delight and suspension of reality.
After hearing the audio and checking the visuals, Peter edits the visuals before adding the lyrics as subtitles to the MV.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): It's a lot of creative effort and many hours of intensive work even for a one-minute MV.
When night falls, we see Peter exporting the final version of his new MV.
Act 3
INT. STUDIO - 23:00
Working on a laptop, Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled "Timeless Tune" into a draft.
PETER (V.O): I hope the lyrics and music I created and the AI drawings generated from my prompts will resonate with people and stand the test of time.
Watching his new MV.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): What becomes timeless was once really new.
Watching his new MV again.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I won't let the demand of intellectual effort to create something stand in my way of creating it.
