  2. Act 1


  3. INT. BEDROOM - 08:30


  4. Having finished his morning exercises, PETER wakes his WIFE up.


  5. PETER (V.O.): Today is the first work day after the holidays. My plan is to write a song.


  6. INT. STUDY - 09:30


  7. Typing on his phone screen, Peter is placing "Sell" orders.


  8. PETER (V.O.): Seizing a window of opportunity, I plan to capitalize a small percentage of my stock investment.


  9. Soon, Peter gets some "fully executed" messages.


  10. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've no expectations. What a pleasant surprise.


  11. Phone rings.


  12. SOMEONE (From phone): ...Mr Cheung, would you mind taking up the assignments in Jan?


  13. PETER (To phone): No problem at all.


  14. Act 2


  15. FLASHBACK


  16. INT. OFFICES - DAY (MONTHS AGO)


  17. Peter, in a suit, overhears an old MAN talking to an INTERPETER.


  18. MAN: I only do assigned cases here...


  19. PETER (V.O.): That's a smart option if the purpose of working is just to maintain the status wealth.


  20. Pausing.


  21. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Having been working in retirement since age 63, I've already had a taste of private practice. Should I follow suit?


  22. END FLASHBACK


  23. Phone rings. Peter checks the caller.


  24. PETER (V.O.): From my younger son, at this time? Where's he?


  25. SON (From phone): Someone has left an anonymous note stating that our car was hit by a car and it has run...


  26. FLASHBACK


  27. EXT. CAR PARK, CUHK - DAY (1976)


  28. Waiting inside his metalic blue Ford Capri, Peter (22) sees a car hitting a stationary car before speeding away.


  29. PETER (V.O.): I sympathize the owner of the car that has been hit.


  30. Writing down the registration no. of the runaway car, Peter places an anonymous note on the windscreen of the damaged car.


  31. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't want to get embroidered in the Police's investigation process as I've better things to do.


  32. END FLASHBACK


  33. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Now's the time for me to learn what might happen after such events.


  34. Surfing the web and seeing an e-reporting platform, Peter tries it.


  35. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'd better to do it in person first.


  36. INT. POLICE REPORT ROOM - 13:45


  37. A DUTY OFFICER is recording Peter's report.


  38. PETER (V.O.): The last time I made a report was in Feb 2020. A "hiredkiller12" sent me an intimidating email hours after I was appointed as a domain name dispute settlement Panelist in a case.


  39. Pausing.


  40. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): After an initial investigation, I've heard no more from the enforcement agency. Anyway, I'm still around.


  41. INT. STUDY - 16:40


  42. Phone rings. Peter takes it.


  43. PETER (V.O.): A senior police officer called.


  44. 18:30. Phone rings and Peter takes it. Then Peter sends images via WhatsApp.


  45. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): An investigating traffic police officer called. I meant to go swimming in the evening. But my witness statement is outstanding...


  46. Pausing.


  47. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Just because of someone's carelessness and irresponsibility, I'm giving up the good for the bad.


  48. Act 3


  49. INT. BEDROOM - 21:00


  50. Appearing, Peter's wife says Hi! to Peter.


  51. WIFE: You got something to do today, right?


  52. PETER (V.O.): Apart from a credit card auto-pay arrangement, I've redeemed gift coupons as my wealth manager alerted me the expiring points.


  53. Pausing.


  54. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd):Events are either planned or unexpected. To plan is easy, to expect the unexpected is hard.


  55. Pausing.


  56. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Unexpected events can set one back or set one up. It's all a matter of context.

  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Some turning-points of life may come at unexpected times and in unexpected ways.
