PETER and his WIFE are watching "Crash Landing on You", a 2019 Korean TV drama.
PETER (V.O): The drama has 16 episodes, quite like 16 90-minute movies.
Watching.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): As she began watching this drama two days ago, I joined her, wanting to check how captivating it can be.
We see end credits of the 14th episode appearing on screen.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): It's an entertaining way to warm up ourselves before attending Korean classes together.
PETER: I believe you'll carry on watching.
WIFE: Yes. I don't expect you to be as passionate as me in watching dramas.
PETER: I think I'll head to bed.
Act 2
INT. DINING ROOM - 08:15
Peter is sharing breakfast with KAJI, the family pet.
PETER (V.O): Our pet wakes me up for breakfast everyday.
Sharing sandwiches.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): My wife has just gone to bed. She must have finished watching all the episodes.
Holding an aesthetic mug, Peter sips some milk and then checks its rim.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): It's a Mashiko ware. I bought it last week in Mashiko.
Sensing the mug's rim with his tongue.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Yesterday night, I was upset to see a chip on its rim.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Our maid neither denies nor admits negligence.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I couldn't bear it though; and so I attempted to polish the chip with a fine sand paper.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): A matriculation English Literature teacher of mine picked up pottery in the end.
Recalling.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): And I love the famous pottery scene in the movie "Ghost".
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Our younger daughter has begun learning sculpting in Japan. Pottery is one of the oldest materials for sculptures.
Checking the mug again.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I've restituted its aesthetic and functional appeal!
INT. LIVING ROOM - 12:00
Peter's is watching episode 15 of the drama.
PETER (V.O): My wife has gone to her hairdresser. I'd better finish watching the drama or I might not be able share her emotions on the scenes.
Later, Peter begins to watch the last episode.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): I'm excited to see how the screenplay writer would resolve the challenges in the end.
Soon, Peter looks disturbed.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): While the episode should be the most captivating one, I've a medical appointment to attend.
Having checked the time, Peter stops the playing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): To get a medically-fit certificate to renew my driving licence as I'm turning 70 has been bothering me for months.
INT. CLINIC, DIAMOND HILL - 15:00
Upon arrival, Peter talks to a RECEPTIONIST.
PETER: I've a medical appointment at 3.pm.
RECEPTIONIST: Oh, your appointment has been postponed to 4pm...We tried to ring you but no one answers the call.
PETER (V.O): If I knew that, I could have finished watching the final episode!
INT. DINING ROOM - 20:30
Over dinner, Peter and his wife chat.
WIFE: I think it's a pity that the supporting male character dies in the end...
Act 3
INT. LIVING ROOM - 23:00
Peter inserts an AI drawing entitled "Unexpected Passions..." to a draft.
PETER (V.O): Interests can be diverse. Trying something new broadens horizons and can lead to unexpected enjoyment.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Earlier, we've rewatched the final episode. Engaging in activities together can strengthen relationships and create shared memories.
Reflecting.
PETER (V.O) (Cont'd): Immerging ourselves in the process and sharing our emotions eg connections of drama characters deepen our loving bonds.
