Sharing breakfast with KAJI, the family pet, PETER reads a newspapers report.
PETER (V.O.): Oh, cheery blossoms in Hong Kong? Where's the spot?
Reading.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I know the spots in Kadoorie Farm & Botanical Garden and in Kwan Kung Pavillion in Cheung Chau.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): A week ago, I read in the newspapers that there're cherry blossoms in the former. But it isn't that accessible.
Reading.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As for the Cheung Chau spot, I'm thinking of checking it out tomorrow.
Grabbing his smart phone, Peter searches "HKIA Cheery Blossom Garden" via Google Maps.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It's situated at Chek Lap Kok South Road. Let me venture out later today.
Act 2
EXT. CHEK LAP KOK SOUTH ROAD - YUEN LONG - 15:00
Driving his signal red 200SX, Peter sees cherry blossoms and CROWDS in a distance.
PETER (V.O.): I thought the spot was a quiet one.
Getting closer to the Garden, Peter sees double yellow lines marked on the side of the road.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I can't stop here.
Staring at the cherry blossoms, Peter drives past the spot.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This pink botanical display is magnificent by Hong Kong standard.
Later, Peter returns in the opposite direction.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm determined to get a snapshot of the spot.
At a roundabout, Peter stops his coupe to give way to another car.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Take your time.
Peter gets a snapshot of the spot before stepping on the accelerator.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): This whirlwind experience is much better than just reading about it.
Peter focuses on road signs ahead.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've to rush to Yuen Long. The public swimming pool there will close at 17:00.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've thought about swimming in Tung Chung. But the public swimming pool there is closed in the afternoon.
Peter follows the route leading to "Macau, Zhuhai, Tuen Mun"
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The route is new to me. I've to drive past Tuen Mun before arriving in Yuen Long.
Seeing the HK-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge ahead, Peter looks anxious.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've no plan to visit Macau/Zhuhai now...
Seeing a "Tuen Mun" diversion, Peter takes it happily.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): But I see a Tunnel Ahead sign...
Peter's coupe approaches the tunnel entrance slowly.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I don't even know there's Check Lap Kok - Tuen Mun tunnel in Hong Kong!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's no toll plaza?
Driving along the two-lane dual carriageway tunnel.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Hmm, it's a long subsea tunnel.
Exiting the tunnel.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): There's no toll plaza on this side either. Let me see if I can find my way to Yuen Long.
Later, Peter experiences traffic jams near the Yuen Long District Office. .
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): From 1976 - 1980, I was working in the District Office here, doing squatter control work.
Stopping at traffic lights.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If I couldn't find a vacant parking lot in the District Office, I just deposited my car nearby.
Driving past a bus terminal.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, I used to park here.
Act 3
INT. DINING ROOM - 21:00
Peter is having dinner with FAMILY.
PETER (V.O.): I like to venture out, not just physically but mentally as well.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I like to bring out the different sides of me and to reach the corners of others' minds.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I share about my past. I express how I feel, I state who and what I am. I like to bring others' out of their comfort zones.
