INT. STUDY - 10:30
Having studied some email attachments, PETER types and sends a reply.
PETER (V.O.): Done!
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm looking forward to having lunch with a good friend in less than two hours.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): And after lunch, I'll go swimming in the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Swimming Pool.
Peter gets a WhatsApp message.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Oh, my friend is so kind to remind me of our lunch appointment.
Peter types his reply on the phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Only when I'm creative would I forget about day and time.
Act 2
EXT. EXIT, QUARRY BAY MTR STATION - 11:30
Appearing, Peter sees the "Tai Koo Place" sign and looks pleased.
PETER (V.O.): I've been to Tai Koo Place before. But this is that first time I take public transport here.
INT. DEVON HOUSE - OXFORD HOUSE - CONTINUOUS
Enjoying the public art on the sides, Peter takes photos.
PETER (V.O.): It's a mini city tour to me. For those who work in the district, they're the lucky ones.
Arriving at Oxford House, Peter checks his phone.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I know the restaurant is called "TMK Funk & Rolls". Despite my friend's indications, its whereabout isn't obvious to me.
Having enquired with STAFF#1, Peter takes the nearby escalator.
INT. TMK FUNK & ROLLS - 12:05
Reception desk. STAFF#2 directs Peter to walk past a dimly-lit corridor.
PETER (V.O.): The ambience is already elegant and stylish. What's inside?
Being received by STAFF#3, Peter is seated in sofa at a corner decorated with vinyl record covers.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I believe this is the restaurant's best table for two.
Soon, Peter's FRIEND joins him cheerfully.
PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): We haven't met since last May when she bought me a most delightful birthday lunch.
MONTAGE OF PETER'S LUNCH ENGAGEMENT WITH HIS FRIEND
A. Observing the restaurant's interior design, they chat.
B. Having done their orders, Japanese food is put on the table.
C. Over lunch, they continue to chat endlessly.
END MONTAGE
FRIEND: Family, partnership and some me-time can make a happy life.
PETER: Well said, I can't agree more.
Pausing.
PETER (Cont'd): My late friend's funeral service in Macao will be held later today. I'm not going.
Pausing.
PETER (Cont'd): If I didn't visit him when he was alive, there's no point for me to go now.
FRIEND: It's just ritual. What's inside counts.
PETER: He had a humble background before becoming a business tycoon in Macao.
PETER (V.O.): Now, the carnival for him is over.
FRIEND: Many people don't know how blessed they're.
PETER: Yes, we should be aware that we're already very fortunate.
INT. PUBLIC SWIMMING POOL - 16:00
A few ELDERLY including Peter are swimming.
PETER (V.O.): There's a wisdom in the Chinese saying: 身在福中不知福,船在水中不知流 - the equivalent of one doesn't know how blessed one is.
Act 3
INT. STUDIO - 20:00
Surrounded by guitars, Peter is in thoughts.
PETER (V.O.): To know is to be aware. To understand is to perceive the significance. While anyone can know, few would understand.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): To be simple is to make a choice of what's important so that one can understand the details better in the context of life.
Pausing.
PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Having played my procreative role to sustain the life force, I'd continue to create more works, particularly on musical compositions.
Peter goes to play the piano.
