  3. EXT. COURT HOUSE- 08:30


  4. Cloudy. Stopping at a staircase, PETER captures the scene.


  5. PETER (V.O.): What will happen to my case today?


  6. Pausing.


  7. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): It was thought by some there was no case. My role now is to prove there's one. It's an uphill struggle.


  8. Pausing.


  9. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm well prepared. But no preparation is ever enough. Nothing is sure.


  10. Taking a breath.


  11. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): Let me start by doing what's necessary.


  12. Peter arrives at the entrance.


  13. Act 2


  14. INT. COURT ROOM - 09:25


  15. Sitting at the bar table, Peter has some discussion with his learned FRIEND.


  16. PETER (V.O.): Since our telephone conversation last Friday, I've been feeling uncomfortable.


  17. Peter then sees his learned friend throwing a pencil at the table.


  18. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): That's another warning bell.


  19. The court is in session. Peter finishes his opening submission.


  20. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): As expected, I'm challenged upfront.


  21. Peter follows his learned friend's opening submission.


  22. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Well, some are irrelevant; others carry little weight.


  23. Peter is reading something aloud.


  24. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I've cooked up the best template on "Agreed Facts".


  25. Pausing.


  26. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): Apart from one typo, it's flawless.


  27. WITNESSES#1 and #2 give evidence respectively.


  28. PETER (V.O.)(Cont'd): I'm glad that they've come up to proof.


  29. Observing.


  30. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If I was the judge, I'd rule there's a prima facie case for the other side to answer.


  31. INT. RESTAURANT - 13:30


  32. Peter is having fried noodles.


  33. PETER (V.O.): The court didn't adjourn until 13:15. Let me reward myself for having played my due role in the interim.

  34. Pausing.


  35. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I prosecute. I don't persecute.


  36. INT. COURT ROOM - 15:00


  37. An ACCUSED replies to Peter's cross-examination.


  38. PETER (V.O.): I'm so persuasive that she has agreed to what I put to her.


  39. Peter's learned friend is surprised.


  40. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I'm confident that I've made out a case that's substantively just and procedurally fair.


  41. The court adjourns.


  42. INT. PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE - 17:00


  43. In a sheet with the caption Case Result, Peter types: Convicted.


  44. PETER (V.O.): Done! Time to check what has happened to my entrepreneurship fund.


  45. Peter sees red numerals and (-1.66%).


  46. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've to work four days to recover the day's loss.


  47. Pausing.


  48. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): The accused has to pay a similar amount for her lawyers' fees.


  49. Pausing.


  50. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): If I didn't prove the case, the tax payers would have to bear the costs. That was my main stress.


  51. Pausing.


  52. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): So, I'm still very happy.


  53. Act 3


  54. EXT. COURT HOUSE - 17:30


  55. Exiting, Peter sees little rain.


  56. PETER (V.O.): I've an umbrella, but I won't use it.


  57. Pausing.


  58. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): After a "fight", I need to cool off.


  59. Pausing.


  60. PETER (V.O.) (Cont'd): I've done what's possible!


  61. Peter walks down the stairs.
